The Silhouette Cameo 3 is the latest addition to the popular and well respected Silhouette line of advanced die cutting machines. This latest iteration comes with a variety of new features including added storage space, Bluetooth capability and strong and reliable software in addition to a variety of enhanced features that users found useful in previous models.

Now that you have an idea of what the Silhouette Cameo 3 is all about, let’s take a more detailed look at its main features. First and foremost, this latest model comes with Bluetooth capability. This means that users can place it wherever they want in their craft room without having to worry about the use of any connecting cables between the machine and their computer.

The new dual carriage feature on the Cameo 3 allows users to cut and draw and at the same time. This new feature enables users to save time since they don’t have to complete one operation, swap out the cutting tool or pen and then start all over again.

Since the Cameo 3 comes with a higher clearance to allow the cutting of thicker materials, it now comes with a wider selection of blades. These include the AutoBlade, Deep Cut Blade in addition to the standard blade.

Other features on the Cameo 3 include added storage space for cutting tools and other accessories, a Full-Color LCD touch screen, Mat Free cutting for materials with a length of up to 10 feet long; it is also Mac and PC compatible.

Pros and Cons

The Cameo 3 is an improvement on the previous models as you can see from the list of new and upgraded features. It is, however, worth noting that the machine also comes with some glaring deficiencies.

First and foremost, the complicated nature of the Silhouette die cutting machines means that new users will have to go through a learning period before they can be able to enjoy all the features on the Cameo 3.

Furthermore, even with the higher cutting clearance, the machines 240g cutting power limits its ability to cut thicker materials.

Final Thoughts

Anyone new to the silhouette brand might find the Cameo 3 a bit complicated; those who have had previous experience using the older models will, on the other hand, enjoy the new and enhanced features on offer.
